Don Mitchell
Don Mitchell understands the power of education and its ability to change and even save lives. He has dedicated his four decade career in education to ensuring that African American, Latino and all underserved students and their families are appreciated, valued and have access to vital educational opportunities to support students’ postsecondary aspirations. Mr. Mitchell has taught for 13 years at three different high schools, and for 18 years at five different colleges/universities. Don’s administrative experience includes 21 years as a high school principal and assistant principal at four different high schools in San Diego Unified School District and San Francisco City Schools. For two years he served as Director of the Advanced Placement Incentive Program for SDUS. In addition, Mr. Mitchell served for seven years as Senior Director for State and District Projects for The College Board. Currently, Mr. Mitchell is a part of the EASE Project at UCLA and is the Co-founder and Co-CEO of the LDM Group, LLC, a professional development firm that focuses on advancing equitable college access. Mr. Mitchell’s life’s work has been dedicated to increasing equitable access and opportunities for underrepresented and under-resourced students.
